Car Rental FAQ: Udon Thani

Foreign visitors need their original passport; Thai citizens need their ID card. Everyone also needs a valid original driving licence; an International Driving Permit (IDP) is accepted. Copies, photos and app-based licences are not accepted.

Renters and drivers must be 25–65 years old with at least 1 year of driving experience.

Yes. Pay the rental in cash or by credit card (3% fee, card payments from ฿4,000). The security deposit is paid in cash at pick-up.

Yes. Bring your passport and your original driving licence; an International Driving Permit (IDP) is accepted. Copies, photos and app-based licences are not accepted. Our team speaks English.

Yes. The minimum rental is 1 day (24 hours), and you can book it online or by chat. A 1-day rental costs more per day than a rental of 2 days or more.

Book 1–2 days ahead, or earlier during Thai holidays. You can book up to 12 months in advance.

No. We offer self-drive rentals only.

Cash deposit: economy cars and sedans ฿3,000 · 7-seaters and pickups ฿5,000 · Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport ฿10,000. It's refunded when you return the car in normal condition.

A transfer of ฿500–5,000 confirms your booking, depending on the car and the rental length. The booking is complete once you receive our confirmation message.

Only transfer to the account our team sends you on LINE @ocarrent or WhatsApp; we never ask for payment through other channels. If in doubt, call +66 84 408 0443 before you pay.

You can pay the booking deposit by Thai bank transfer or by card (+3% fee). Ask us on WhatsApp for the options. The cash security deposit is paid at pick-up, and there are ATMs in the arrivals area at Udon Thani Airport.

Yes. Every car includes CDW. The excess is ฿10,000 per incident for economy cars and sedans, and ฿15,000 per incident for 7-seaters, 4-door pickups and SUVs. Third-party cover is included as per the policy.

SCDW is optional cover that reduces your excess to ฿0. It costs ฿250/day for economy cars and sedans and ฿350/day for 7-seaters, pickups and SUVs. SCDW doesn't remove the exclusions: in some cases CDW / SCDW may not cover you (see the next question). Read the insurance guide

A. Using the car in breach of the rental terms. In these cases CDW / SCDW may not cover you, and the renter may be responsible for the actual damage in full:

• Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
• Driving without a valid driving licence
• Letting an unauthorised person drive
• Grossly negligent or dangerous driving, racing or speed testing
• Off-road driving, or using the car in an unauthorised area or way
• Driving through floodwater or areas with a high risk of water damage

B. Certain types of damage may not be covered by CDW / SCDW, or have extra conditions: glass · tyres and wheels · underbody · interior · car key · car equipment and accessories · excessive cleaning.

No. The quoted price is the price you pay. These are the only extra charges that may apply:

• Pick-up or return before 07:00 or after 20:30: ฿500 each time (pick-up and return are charged separately)
• Delivery or collection at a hotel, home or other address in Udon Thani city: ฿350 (free from 7 days)
• Outside Udon Thani city: available only for rentals of 7+ days, ฿30/km each way
• Paying by credit card: +3%
• Traffic-ticket handling: ฿500 per ticket (plus the fine itself)
• Tank not full on return: fuel at cost + ฿500 refuelling fee
• Late return beyond the 29-minute grace period: +1 day
• SCDW (optional) and Pocket Wi-Fi ฿100/day, if you choose them
• Special cleaning or a lost key: charged at cost

Yes, daily 07:00–20:30. The meeting point is lane A3, opposite terminal Door 1. Landing or returning before 07:00 or after 20:30 is possible for ฿500 per pick-up or return. See the airport meeting point

Yes. We are open daily 07:00–20:00, and pick-up or return is free from 07:00 to 20:30. Before 07:00 or after 20:30 there's a fee of ฿500 for each pick-up and each return. Please arrange it in advance.

Yes. In Udon Thani city it costs ฿350 for 1–6 day rentals and is free from 7 days. Outside Udon Thani city, delivery is available only for rentals of 7+ days, at ฿30/km each way.

Child seats and dashcams are free. Please request a child seat when booking, as numbers are limited. For navigation we suggest Google Maps on your phone; if you need mobile data on the road, Pocket Wi-Fi is ฿100/day. See all extras

Yes. Give us the additional driver's name and show their original driving licence at pick-up.

It depends on the rental length:

• 1–7 days: Udon Thani, Nong Bua Lamphu, Loei, Nong Khai, Sakon Nakhon, Bueng Kan, Nakhon Phanom and Khon Kaen
• 8–19 days: all of Isan
• 20–29 days: Isan and upper Central Thailand
• 30+ days: anywhere in Thailand

Cars may not be taken to Laos.

The allowance is an average of 200 km/day over the rental. If you exceed the allowance or the agreed area, the price may be adjusted, so please tell us your route in advance.

Sedans, eco cars and 7-seaters use petrol (Gasohol 95); all pickups and SUVs are diesel. The policy is full-to-full. If the tank isn't full on return, fuel is charged at cost plus a ฿500 refuelling fee.

During your rental, call +66 84 408 0443 or share your location on WhatsApp. If anyone is injured, call 1669 first. If it's not your fault, we provide a replacement car for the rest of your rental, subject to conditions. See what to do in an emergency

No. Smoking and pets are not allowed. Special cleaning and loss-of-use fees apply.

Yes, when a car is available. Please tell us at least 1 day ahead. Extensions are charged at the current rate.

A rental day is 24 hours. There is a 29-minute grace period (please tell us in advance). After that, an extra day is charged.

No, unless it's very dirty, for example with tar, cement, mud or cigarette smell. In that case a cleaning fee applies.

Yes. Returning at Udon Thani Airport or our office is free, or we can collect the car from your hotel or home in Udon Thani city, with fees as in our delivery and collection table. For any other place, please contact us in advance to agree the place and time.

Yes, with at least 24 hours' notice. The booking deposit is non-refundable in all cases. A no-show, or missing documents, counts as a cancellation by the customer.

No. After confirmation, the originally booked number of days is charged.
